To the Winter’s bone
Vinnaren från årets Sundance Film Festival är en fantastisk och intelligent redneck-thriller som kommer att förgylla svenska biografer efter nyår. En film med många glädjeämnen (inte minst att det är film av och med kvinnor utan att den alls diskuteras som en ”sån” film) men eftersom vi mest snackar musik på Our Favourite så innebär det att filmens stora stjärna är den lätt rundhyllta Marideth Sisco. Hon är en ”veteran journalist, teacher, author, musician, student of folklore” och tillika filmens musik-konsult och sångerska. Hon syns i en kort scen i filmen där hon sitter och sjunger två sånger i ett vardagsrum. En scen som nästan stjäl hela filmen. Hon sjunger så sorgligt men varmt att jag ville stanna upp, hoppa in i filmens nedgångna vardagsrum och stanna där hos Marideth. Där skulle hon sjunga vacker musik från Appalacherna tills jag dog.
Marideth har aldrig gett ut en skiva men nu lär det ske. På Winter’s bone officiella webbplats kan man ladda ner ett smakprov från filmens soundtrack.

Hi Sarah, I loved the film! What I wrote could be sumarised like this:
”Winter’s bone is a film with a lot of ingredients to make you happy. Since this is a blog mainly about music I have to say that the star of the film is Marideth Sisco. You can see her in a short scene in the film where she sings two songs in a living-room. That scene steals the show. She sings so sad but heartfelt that I felt that I wanted to stay there, in that living-room with Marideth and just listen to her sing.”
